Broxbourne Borough host British Gas Business Southern League Division One Midlands outfit Chesham United at Goffs Lane on Tuesday night, with the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side announcing two more important signings confirmed to nonleaguedaily by boss Tony Faulkner.
Faulkner said: “There is a feel good factor within our camp these days and a genuine optimism that we can push on from last season. “We are delighted to announce the signings of goalkeeper Mark Virgo alongside midfield/frontman Ryan Wade from near-neighbours Hertford Town. “Both will boost a squad which I am close to finalising, but would be happy to go into the forthcoming campaign with the calibre of player already signed up for us.”
Virgo at 6`3” is a highly experienced keeper whose former clubs number Ware, Cheshunt, St Margaretsbury and a first spell with Boro when formerly known as Somerset Ambury V & E. Wade also returns to Goffs Lane for a second spell and, apart from Hertford where his most effective role was as a midfielder, also played for Hoddesdon Town with the first period at Broxbourne heralding himself as a regular scorer on the Spartan South Midlands scene as a front runner.
UEFA qualified coach Faulkner, now in his fourth Boro season, was fulsome in his praise for the hard work put in behind the scenes to make sure that his players are well equiped for the 2008/09 challenge. Faulkner (pictured) was especially praiseworthy on the major contribution put in by Mark Beels in respect of the players` fitness levels.
Beels, a much valued member of his management team after promotion to the first-team after gaining his spurs last time out as team manager of the club`s reserve team championship-winning side, achieved in its first season of participation.

Donations to a good cause please
On Sunday July 27th, my wife Annette and I will be tackling the 55 mile London to Cambridge bike ride, in an attempt to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Earlier this year, Annette's Mum sadly died, unfortunately quite swiftly followed by her father.
40 years ago, her Mum won her personal battle against the disease and enjoyed life to the full for the remainder of her life.
In their memory, we have decided to tackle this challenge and raise funds for an extremely worthwhile charity in an attempt to help others. It was originally Annette's idea to participate and I have stepped up to the plate after finding out the five designated pit stops are pubs!
From my previous involvement in non League football as a player, manager and for a further 15 years as Chairman of Brimsdown Rovers and now as a Vice President of the Spartan South Midlands Football League, I have made many friends in the game and are seeking financial support, no matter how small, from anyone who would care to pledge money.
Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.
Graham Dodd
