MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

SATURDAY THE 26TH OF APRIL

YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BOROUGH AWAY DAY

LANGFORD 0  BROXBOURNE BOROUGH 2  ADE COLE, PAUL DODD

Broxbourne Borough ended their campaign on a high alongside many other of their best occassion's of the season a successful away day, in the final analysis the record's will show that the Hertfordshire side registered maximum points thanks to goals from Ade Cole, and Paul Dodd, but their is much to admire about the Goffs Lane outfit these days, that manifest itself best, when the chips are well and truly down, and none more so than on Saturday when a tyre blow out caused logistical problems on the way to the Bedfordshire clubs Forde Park headquarters that called for an extensive revamp of the original starting line up.

In his Post Match interview for the club website, team boss Tony Faulkner confirmed as a consequence, our build up prior to saturdays kick off was not ideal to say the least, with three of our players not arriving until after 15 minutes after the scheduled kick off,  this is not the first time this season that our players have had to adjust to basically putting round pegs into square holes but they coped magnificently, but we ran out worthy winners against a side very much the league's form side having racked up 8 wins on the bounce preceeding our final day meeting, Langford have finished in sixth spot so this is very much to be considered another notable scalp recorded by us.

On the Spartan South Midland Premier division's final league Saturday, Tony spoke with a warm glow of satisfaction toward a job well done as a collective unit but very much alligned to the performance's put in on its behalf by former Zimbabwe International keeper Obey Morefu alongside his central defenders Matt Keogh and Micky Nathen (such a versatile performer) pressed into service to combat the hosts ariel bombardment.

But after taking the lead through the admirable Paul Dodd, Broxbourne got into cruise control later on as Ade Cole gave the two goal cushion after 75 minutes that saw them negotiate the final stages in a satisfactory manner even given the fact that their hosts had two shots rebound from Obey Murefu's crossbar and of couse had chances of their own apart from that last word going to Tony, their is so much strength of character in our ranks the logistical nightmare we had to deal with on Saturday might well have derailed lesser outfits, but all it did was to strengthen our resolve still further, Bradley Poole again was excellent linking the play up and Matt Kearney typified our spirit by giving it his very best shot when pressed into service before making way for younger legs on the hour mark.

Broxbourne Borough 1 V 1 Chalfont St Peter - Tuesday, 15 April 2008

MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION  TUESDAY 15TH APRIL

What a marvellous advert once again for the Spartan South Midlands league, this game had everything that is good in our marvellous Non League game, a point apiece in a fire cracker of a contest that went right down to the wire, talking points many and varied not the least of these being the validity of the verdict that awarded visitors Chalfont with the opportunity to forge ahead from the penalty spot after an alleged hand ball by Michael Noble.

The Buckinghamshire side were out of the blocks early and exerted pressure on the home rearguard in the opening exchanges but Borough were disiplined with Gary Taylor making crucial interventions towards this end, ahead of Carroll's spot kick that gave them the lead at half time and giving imputus to their Championship challenge to Beaconsfield SYCOB which appears now to be fading significantly as a result of the Goffs Lane outfits second half equaliser and the inability to narrow the gap to a single point albeit having played a game more in the run in.

All in all the most satisfactory of evenings for Tony's players who showed great resilience and character after having to re-group ahead of the 7 45pm kick off with Matt Keogh having to pull out of the starting line to be replaced by Lee Teagle, in fact Teagle in the central defensive partnership was excellent and also instrumental in the all important build up for levelling the scorelines, Bradley Drisdale's corner finding him up in support of the front line and winning the header to allow on form striker Danny Ward to hook the ball past visiting custodian Michael Power-Simpson into the right sided corner to the delight of the Goffs Lane faithful.

This game for the neautral had the lot, talking points galore, fine match play by both outfits crossbar's rattled by each side in turn within the last five minute time span, Danny Ward looked likely to win it for us before the woodwork denied him, as in turn did Bradley Bubb for Chalfont.

Immediately following the final whistle delighted team boss Tony Faulkner hosted his interview for the club website and his appreciation of his players contribution was one of immediate evidence of deep satisfaction, making the most valid of pointer's we were out their with nothing of major significance points wise  but we  played magnificently throughout and demonstrated just how much have improved and I thought we had done enough to have won the game, it is hard for me to pick out individual performers because this was a top quality show galvanised by a desire to work hard for each other but Lee Teagle did a great job for us in defence, Bradley Poole excellent as the link man, whilst Bradley Drisdale supplied so much pace and vitality out on the right flank with the strike force of Paul Dodd and Danny Ward a potent combination . He finalised by saying we have now gone a long way to addressing the subject of our "achilles heal" situation our erractic home form and look for another performance on the same lines of this one in our final home game of the season on saturday in the local derby with St Margaretsbury.

Broxbourne Borough 3 V 1 Oxhey Jets - Saturday, 12 April 2008

REJUVENATED BROXBOURNE LOOK TO END CAMPAIGN ON A HIGH
14/04/2008

2 goal Danny Ward

Broxbourne Borough were full value for their 3-1 Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division success over visiting Oxhey Jets on Saturday, thanks to a double from in-form striker Danny Ward and a single from Jamie Davies.

The Goffs Lane club now embark on further home games with Chalfont St Peter on Tuesday and St Margaretsbury this coming Saturday ahead of an end-of-season away day at Langford.

And to this end, Boro boss Tony Faulkner confirmed to nonleaguedaily: “We look to end our campaign with a flourish.

“It has been hard at times to fully focus with events off the field which threatened to derail us. But now we can look forward to enjoying our football again as a rejuvenated outfit.”

The former Brimsdown Rovers, Hoddesdon Town and Cockfosters boss continued: “It is essential we keep our present sqaud together and, if we are able to add a couple of new signings in the close season, should be in with a pretty good shout of mounting a realistic promotion challenge next time around.

“However, it is imperitive that we have a good pre-season, which was not the case prior to this one, despite every effort by the coaching staff.

“We very much look forward to the visit of high-flying Chalfont St Peter in midweek and it should be an enthralling encounter our visitors in search of championship points, whilst we go into the game looking to put in a level of performance far better than that afforded when we visited Mill Meadow before Christmas. Then it was 0-0 after 72 minutes before we suffered a nightmare final period when conceding on no less than six
times without reply!”

Faulkner finalised by paying rich compliment to Danny Ward (pictured), who opened and closed the weekend`s scoring charts, sandwiched between an Oxhey leveller at 1-1, before Jamie Davies had their noses out in front short of half time at 2-1.

Ward, now in his sixth campaign with Hertfordshire club, moves on to twenty-one goals in all competition including hat tricks against Welwyn Garden City and London Colney.

MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE RESERVE SECOND DIVISION EAST

SATURDAY THE 5TH OF APRIL

BROXBOURNE BOROUGH RESERVES 5 AMPTHILL TOWN RESERVES 1

Manager Mark 'Beelys' Beels

( MICKY NATHEN 3, ROB TEPPETT & IAN REDDINGTON )

Micky Nathen was the "hat trick " hero for Borough as they took another major step in their bid for honours in this first campaign together as a side, which is in its own right a marvellous compliment to Mark and assistant boss Matt Kearney, alongside all the players who have contributed so
handsomely to their success story, which also includes reaching the semi-final stage of the Herts
Intermediate Cup before bowing out to the eventual winners King Langley.

The Goffs Lane outfit although bossing the first half on saturday went in level pegging at the break 1-1 but during the second period of the game when needing it most produced their best performance level for some considerable passage of time, sharply upping the tempo in the process.

Everyone contributed against their Bedfordshire visitors but undeniably Micky Nathen was the on day top performer his goals being crucial ahead of the seasons final game next wednesday when Kentish Town visit Goffs Lane in a fixture switch from the original away team venue without overstating the importance of what is riding on that particular game as regards Championship
challenge, reflection is due on what was achieved this time around, maximum points and another boost to an already excellent goal differencial

HONOURS EVEN AT SECOND MEADOW

BIGGLESWADE UNITED 1 BROXBOURNE BOROUGH 1 (DANNY WARD 30 MINUTES)

Borough's week-end visit to Bedfordshire was marked by contrasting weather pattern's so much so that the four season's were liberally represented during the course of the 90 minutes but its main element of strong winds made it exceptionally hard to control the ball through-out and to a large extent were a big deciding factor towards its final outcome.

Never the less Borough making their first appearence since their 10 point's league deduction had a good precentage of the play throughout, but went behind to an opener for United on seven minutes when defensive frailty allowed the hosts to forge ahead with a goal that in all essense was not defended with claritie of movement usually associated with the Goffs Lane club's defensive rear-guard of late.

By the half hour parity was restored and at 1-1 game very much back on, thanks to frontman Danny Ward's 19th strike of the current campaign, fashioned in its initial stages by former Ilford central defender Matt Keogh who clipped the ball over the home sides defence mechanism and played into the channel's for the clubs leading marksmen to score with consumate ease but ahead of such time he spurned a far easier opportunity moments later.

Second period possession was very much a preserve of the Hertfordshire side but a bad foul on Ward necessitated their leader of the line be substituted as a measure to safeguard the player during a period of time when retribution could well have appeared on the agenda

Late good efforts from Bradley Drisdale and Neil Smith could have won it for us before a final hurrah that saw Tony Burke on as a second half substitute dismissed before its conclusion in circumstances that did not in the final analysis prove to be of satisfactory proportion

CHAIRMAN PETER HARRIS CONFIRMS TO THE CLUB WEBSITE FOLLOWING THE F.A.RULING BODY DECISION OF TEN POINT MOLTEN SPARTAN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION DEDUCTION "NOW WE CAN DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND AND MOVE ON"

Broxbourne Borough Chairman Peter Harris has confirmed that following the F.A. ruling body’s decision to deduct his side 10 Molten Spartan South Midlands league Premier division points with immediate effect for what was in all essence an administrative error at the heart of the passage of time when they were fighting on all fronts to save their club from extinction (the facts of which have been previously liberally documented elsewhere) that they could now draw a line in the sand and move on.

He continued that the club wished to extend their gratitude to the management committee of the South Midlands league who had backed them unreservedly during a passage of time that had been one likened to nightmare proportion when its future was in limbo. Also to its team
management and players who albeit are acutely aware of the situation gave of their very best and to its Premier division member clubs fully supportive of their situation.

In finalising the Goffs Lane club's Chairman added, “It is like as if a dark storm cloud has been lifted from us – there was no intention to deceive in any way. We have been in limbo for some considerable time now not able to push forward to obtain grant's and suchlike because if demotion two divisions had been the outcome these would not have been available to pursue at the second division level.

Footnote - with the ten point deduction in place, Borough are now on 52 points following the 1-1 draw at Biggleswade United's Second Meadow at the week-end.

MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION  TUESDAY THE 1ST OF APRIL

BROXBOURNE BOROUGH 1  (JAMIE DAVIES 81 MINUTES )  LEVERSTOCK GREEN 0

BOROUGH BUILD ON WEEK-END CITIZEN'S SUCCESS

End of season nothing riding on the result, don't you believe it, this contest was a marvellous advert for Spartan South Midlands league football at its very best, committment, silky on ball skills, grit, determination, you name it this game had it in abundance.

by nature of the beast, contest's between the two Hertfordshire outfits are usually of the high scoring variety, but not this time around as the game was balanced on a knife-edge until late on in its preceedings as a wonderful move started initially by Jamie Davies down the right flank and carried on with swift interchange with Bradley Drisdale saw the ex Haringey Borough wing man beat his full back for pace and squared the ball across the box to pick out Davies steaming up in support to slot low past visiting custodian Graeme Milner from close range to the delight of the Goffs Lane faithful timed at 81 minutes.

In truth this second Borough success within 72 hours with the added bonus of its consecutive clean sheet went some considerable way to laying the ghost of the clubs patchy home form that has been in stark contrast to arguably the best away record in the division,

Although in its final analysis it was tough on a Leverstock outfit that made a major contribution to leave empty handed such was their imput to indeed an excellent match and during such time they had an effort ruled out for offside  shortly before Davies match clincher

At the final whistle Lee Teagle conducted the on night interview for the club's website to confirm " tonight the players did us immensely proud basically this type of performance we lacked in early season" "we ground out this result no question of that and our work ethic was top quality, defensively we were sound with our back four excellent as a collective unit"

He continued "once Bradley Poole again made a major contribution as indeed did frontman Danny Ward who turned in another high calibre Borough performance, this result and the manner in which it has been achieved is indeed a major boost to us all after difficult off field distraction's to our progression have now to a major extent been resolved"

Lee Teagle finalised by saying "we hit the woodwork twice through Ade Cole and Jamie Davies but this was a tie when both sides created genuine chances, it was free flowing throughout and could have gone either way"

Next up for Borough is Biggleswade United at the week-end when they will look for more of the same looking to end the current campaign in some considerable style and look to push on next time around if this talented squad can be kept together in its close season.

Broxbourne Borough  Obey Murefu, Gary Taylor, Rob Kemble, Michael Noble, Matt Keogh, Jamie Davies, Bradley Drisdale, Bradley Poole, Danny Ward, M Nathen, Ade Cole, subs used Paul Dodd,  Mark Brennan, Leigh Smith.

Broxbourne Borough 5 V 0 Welwyn Garden City - Saturday, 29 March 2008

MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION  HAT TRICK HERO  DANNY WARD SETTLES IT

Borough turned in a performance of indeed some high level of competence albeit against a Citizen's line up that never seriously threatened after the opening exchanges, and settled in its latter stages for damage limitation after a tough week for the Hearn's Lane club, following managerial resignation that did little to enhance their week-end game plan preperation. However all credit Borough on a Goffs Lane afternoon when many plus marks were recorded, not the least being confirmation of a maximum point haul taking us on to 58 for the season thus far, alongside keeping a clean sheet also safe in the knowledge of excellent individual performances within the given team framework.

By the interval the hosts were on easy street thanks to strikes from frontman Nathan after 11 minutes, Danny Ward 18,Tony Burke 37, alongside candidate for the best of them Ward's second on 43 sending them in for the half time cuppa in cruise control.  After the prelude of  registering  a well deserved "Hat trick" for Danny Ward, on his day pound for pound one of the best finishers in the business at this level on 55 minutes, in reality the game was played out  in its latter stages as one of which harboured a certain degree of anti climax, due in some respects to the severity of the scoreline alongside the visitors being reduced to 10 men following the totting up system of two yellow cards for Richelle Christian. This for taking out Bradley Drisdale in full flight bearing goalwards from the right flank, (directly leading up to the free kick picking out the on fire striker Ward to expertly guide past visiting custodian Simon Bartley low down into the right sided corner from close range)

Game set and match to Tony's players and at the final whistle he confirmed in his post match managerial interview for the clubs website that the game was over as an effective contest well before half time as they made their visitors pay for events leading up to the game which for them  were of an unsettling nature. Faulkner an excellent Coach now in his third campaign with the Borough must take immense credit for the way he has turned things around, during a current campaign when sides of lesser substance would not have came back from the poor hand they were dealt during the close season, which has been well documented elsewhere.

The former Brimsdown Rovers, Cockfosters, and Hoddesdon Town boss, was fulsome in his praise of his striker Danny Ward now on 18 goals for the season with his second league "hat trick" the other coming at London Colney, he also confirmed that Danny is a confidence player and today we saw him at his very best his second of the afternoon was out of the very top drawer and was a true on day match winner. Further individual plaudits came with recognition of the all round competence provided by Bradley Poole covering virtually every blade of grass, and instrumental in gaining the penalty award that effectively took the tie beyond the Citizen's.

Poole's work rate all round crispness of playing ball's in to feet was indeed a big plus mark warmly appreciated by the Goffs Lane faithfull on a wonderful playing surface (despite the recent monsoon like condition's) but one on which they produced their best home statistic result wise ahead of the tuesday night Leverstock Green encounter. Bradley Drisdale once again registered his undeniable worth  out on the right flank and must surely be acknowledged as one of the best signings made by the club in the modern era, his pace, accuracy of balls played in to his front men a delight to watch, with the reminder that his cross for our opener a firm header from Micky Nathan was the first of valuable "assists" finalised by Wards precision finish before making way job done in a double second period substitution.

In conclusion Jamie Davies in the left sided midfield "engine room" was top quality but in recognition of a job well done by Borough collectively and a praiseworthy mention of visiting custodian Bartley the curtain came down on another windswept showery afternoon when the day belonged to Danny Ward a great club servant and now actively seeking a  season target of 20 goals with more of the same as produced as of today that should not present undue sleep less nights

MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION  SATURDAY 15TH OF MARCH

WARDLE HAT TRICK FOR GREENS ON ONE OF OUR LESS PRODUCTIVE AWAY DAYS

LEVERSTOCK GREEN 3  BROXBOURNE BOROUGH 0

Borough were out muscled by a physical presence from the Greens and after going two goals down within the first 12 minutes improved significantly from their on in but left Pancake Lane pointless on another disapointing afternoon for the Goffs lane side after the early set backs the visitors created excellent chances to get back in the game most notably from Paul Dodd, alongside Tony Burke, before a last minute spot kick conversion brought down the curtain on an afternoon that Tony as team boss confirmed with a great deal of justification as being of one that payed the price for poor goals conceded alongside not taking up advantage's of second half possession that were indeed of a frustrating nature Bradley Drisdale's return to the side from injury was a welcome Borough bonus and his pace and willingness to take defenders on will be a much needed source of inspiration as we look to end the season on a high
but this was Leverstocks day with Matt Wardle their registered "Hat Trick" hero

BASIC ERRORS COST DEAR AS BOROUGH NOT ABLE TO PUSH ON AFTER HERTFORD TOWN MIDWEEK EXCELLENCE

BROXBOURNE BOROUGH 2  (LEE TEAGLE 75 MICKY NATHEN 85)  AYLESBURY VALE 3 ( LUKE MELLISSI HAT TRICK)

Following the classy showing  against Hertford Town in midweek and on the back of excellent recent form it was a bitterly disapointed Borough outfit that exited the Goffs Lane arena at the week-end safe in the knowledge that they had not pushed on in given level of performance and indeed points tally, credit to the Buckinghamshire side for taking what was indeed on offer, but the reality kicks in to emphasis in the home side's management team parlance "defensively we were a shambles and went back to our bad old ways as basic errors cost us dear"
With allowance made for the fact that Broxbourne were disadvantaged by going into the Aylesbury contest without the services of influencial club skipper Daryl Mitchell sitting this one out through suspension alongside pacy ex Haringey Borough wingman Bradley Drisdale nursing his hamstring injury suffered against Hertford the home side still had enough quality in their ranks to have built on the accreditation of an 8 game unbeaten run covering 6 wins and 2 drawn encounters.

Vale lead 1-0 at the interval and extended this lead to 3-0 by the hour mark and although putting in a better effort towards the end of the contest it was indeed to little to late for the Hertfordshire side, even given the not inconsiderable fact that at 3-2 chances to save the game were not taken up, on an afternoon that gained some consolation in our  Reserve side's 2-2 draw  at A.F.C. Dunstable  keeping them in pole position in Division Two East

BOROUGH ADDRESS "ACHILES HEEL" SITUATION OF STUTTERING HOME FORM WITH ALL ROUND QUALITY TEAM PERFORMANCE

Borough were bright breezy and confident against Hertford Town on tuesday in a cracking Derby encounter that was indeed a great advert for the strength in depth of its league member clubs witnessed by an appreciative audience who made light of the driving sleet and chilly night to give both sets of players warm appreciation at its conclusion Borough fully addressing their "Achiles heel situation" the subject of indifferent home form whilst the visitors will on another day justifiably lay claim to to better recompense of thier efforts despite a furious late onslaught that fell just marginally short both Borough strikes came from performers playing against former clubs with the deadlock broken after just six minutes Daryl Mitchell very much at home on the big stage delighting the Goffs Lane faithful firing past Mark Virgo from all of 25 yards range with an angled shot  which took a deflection  on route by defender Matt Watt's.

13 minutes gone and Hertford back in it a swift interchange of passing saw Panay Panayiotou play in Pablo Ardiles to shoot across Obey Morefu into the right sided corner very much game on at 1-1. Chances their after came and went at both ends but short of the interval on 36 minutes Paul Dodd's shot eluded Virgo at the near post  being very much attributed to the excellent support play provided by Rob Kemble in its "assist" proceedure" for what proved to be the eventual on  night match winner.

At the post match interview delighted Borough boss Tony Faulkner was full of praise for his players and deservedly so making the most valid of point that we need to provide this same level of capability more often, it bodes well for our future by keeping such a talented squad of players together in the close season and by finding this level of consistency on a regular basis, he also added that Borough really had to dig in and showed tremendous strength of character in doing so only downside was the hamstring injury suffered by Bradley Drisdale that neccessitated him leaving the action just short of the hour mark to be replaced by Micky Nathen

Saturday sees the visit of Aylesbury Vale when Broxbourne will look to push on build on a run of three straight wins two of these against outfits registering 4th and 5th position before kick off time with 55 points already in the locker it is imperative that showings such as this one become the norm for my money Bradley Poole and Rob Kemble were rock solid in our back line, and made crucial interventions to protect the lead, Tony Burke showed once again what a big performer he is on the Borough stage, whilst former Hoddesdon Town defender Carlo Casali surely one of the best re-signings made by the club again tremendous and a big factor in the on night success apart from our goalscorers, Danny Ward battled and scrapped, chased the lost cause with impunity and typified
the team spirit, working his socks off and unlucky not to register on the scoresheet himself this time around

Broxbourne Borough O Murefu, R Kemble, B Poole, A Cole (L Teagle 76)  C Casali, D May, B Drisdale( M Nathen 57)  P Dodd (M Noble 76) D Ward, D Mitchell, T Burke
