 | FIRST EVER SILVERWARE FOR BORO 13/05/2009 |

Molten Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division club Broxboune Borough lifted the first trophy in the club`s history following Tuesday`s Herts Charity Shield final witnessed by a bumper sized crowd at the County Ground Letchworth by virtue of 4-1 success over Royston Town.
Boro boss Tony Faulkner (pictured) confirmed to nonleaguedaily: “Apart from being a great way to end our season, the players were fully focused and had a steely resolve to cap our best ever season by putting silverware in the cupboard for the first time.”
The former Brimsdown Rovers, Cockfosters and Hoddesdon Town boss paid massive compliment to his custodian Obey Murefu, the ex-Zimbabwe international number two to Bruce Grobbelaar in the 1990s, who was absolute quality, keeping his side in it during the Crows` best spell in the match during its first period.
On more than one occasion strikes for the runaway Division One champions looked increasingly likely before Rob Kemble fired the Goffs Lane side ahead moments before the interval.
Faulkner added: “This means so much to us and can be the springboard for us to push on next term and embrace a bright new era.
“We might not have the resources available elsewhere, but with a team spirit second to none, the commitment to the cause is beyond question.”
He again reiterated that the conversion of his midfield player Ryan Wade in early November to embrace the strikers` role had paid great dividends. Wade, on target twice in this one after 52 and 75 minutes respectively, had topped the league charts accordingly and taken him on to forty-one in all competitions, but the strength in depth of his squad was mirrored by Murat Karagul - signed from Haringey Borough in the latter part of the campaign but never complaining when not in his starting line-up. He was richly rewarded by his 90th minute clincher after Luke Robbins had reduced the deficit to 3-1 on 84 minutes.
Faulkner finalised by saying that Royston would be a fine addition to the Premier Division next season and boost the quality of the Step 5 league still further.
